It’s summer in the small seaport town of Astoria and The Goonies are restless. Big developers threaten to take over the town. Then Mikey finds an old pirate map and the kids take off to find the loot that can save their neighborhood. But they never counted on skeletons with swords, a booby-trapped underground passage and the murderous ex-con, all of whom want the Goonies’ head. Take the oath. Join the adventure.

I’m a best-selling author of such iconic adventures as Return of the Jedi and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, in addition to being a longtime television writer-producer.
My latest novel is Matamoros. In 1863 Matamoros, Mexico, was a haven for Yankee and Rebel spies, gunrunners, cotton smugglers, Texas Rangers – and French Foreign Legionnaires, since Napoleon had just invaded Mexico. This is the story of Clay, an expatriate Southern gentleman, and Allie, his ex-con artist partner, embroiled in a star-crossed affair in the shadow or two wars.
It’s my first foray into historical adventure romance fiction. I took a deep dive researching it for years – first in libraries and online, then with trips down to Brownsville and Matamoros, where I got access to original diaries and journals, newspaper articles and rare archives. I could write a second book with the material I left out of this one. Maybe one day I will.
In addition, I wrote/produced/performed a companion CD of Americana songs about the characters in the novel – some of the tracks detailing backstory of the characters, some songs going into what happened after the novel was over, some mixing episodes in the novel with subject adventure realities.
