The perfect cook book for beginner vegans like me!
Reviewed in the United States on July 8, 2022
For a long time now I have been thinking of going vegan but for some reason, I would always psych myself out of actually doing it. I came across this cookbook and decided to check it out to at least get my toes wet before I decide to fully dive into veganism.. And it’s safe to say that I’m so glad I did! This answered so many questions I had and erased most of my fears about what it would entail to adopt a vegan lifestyle.

This book tells you everything you need to know and everything you need to actually succeed. I did have certain expectations before going vegan and while some of them are true, most of them were actually unrealistic. I always thought that if I started my vegan journey that it would mean completely ditching meat from my diet. However, that isn’t the case. I learned that you should actually substitute what you get from meat products, with other food sources.

I have already tried out some of the recipes in the cookbook and I would have to say that the Creamy Herb and Cauliflower Pasta earned its place in my top 5 all-time favorite dishes to cook! It is so easy to make thanks to the simple and well-thought-out instructions, plus the ingredients weren’t hard to find at all! I highly recommend it.

Recently my girlfriend purchased this cookbook because “I think we need to start caring about what we digest by eating healthier”. Now I have never been one to be concerned about what I eat. I’m a meats and potatoes kind of guy but there was no getting out of this. So off to the store we went for ingredients to these new meals. Here is a list of a few things we have tried and surprisingly It was delicious. I would definitely recommend to others.
1) Very Berry Vanilla Pancakes
2) One Pan Crispy Veg Bake
3) Coconutty Chia Pudding
4) Crunchy Oven Baked Zucchini Chips
5) Ginger + Garlic Broccoli Stir Fry

Time saving, easy to follow recipes
Reviewed in the United States on July 2, 2022
This book was a great introduction into the vegan diet. It was easy to follow and understand. It was informative and even included a shopping list and meal plan. For those who are just starting out with a vegan diet, this gives you a starting point. A lot of the recipes only have 5 steps to complete and have a cook time of an hour or less, which is a huge time-saver. As a mom of 2 kids working full time and going to school, healthy recipes that are easy to follow and quick to cook without sacrificing flavor are a must and this book definitely provides that.

Easy to follow

As a stay at home mom with a toddler, I am always looking for easy and healthy meal ideas for my family and this cookbook really simplified things. Each recipe includes the estimated cooking time and easy to follow instructions. I especially love the 28 day meal plan included to give me a starting point. If you’re looking for great plant-based recipes all in one place, this is the book!!

Quick and Easy meals, just like the title says

So I have been searching high and low for simple, easy to make vegan recipes and bought this one after I was browsing around the cookbook section of amazon. I picked up a few plant-based cookbooks and the recipes in this one are definitely better than a lot of the others I picked up, even though its not the most pretty from a looks/aesthetics standpoint.

Overall I am pretty happy with the information and the recipes that the author has provided
I often feel that it is difficulty and monotonous to find recipes that are both tasty and size appropriate for the vegan lifestyle. What I liked about this cookbook is that it is full of new ideas for the foods we regularly purchase, it just adds a new twist and ingredient combo to the meals I am used to having.
This cookbook breathes new life into my weekly plant based menu, which was really needed as I was getting so bored of lentils and broccoli. I also purchased this cookbook for my brother who is looking to incorporate more veggies in his diet. I know it will serve as a great guide as the meal plan is a great help and the book will really become useful when he is looking to sub meat out for something else that tastes good.

If you aren’t familiar with the diet, the intro give you a good summary and covers all of the bases. It’s not in-depth or anything, but I find that many books can drag on with useless info in these sections so I enjoyed the simplicity.
I love how this cookbook has staged and sequenced the appropriate introduction of various foods, this I found very helpful.

This book makes the vegan diet super easy and straightforward, so its a no brainer to get it at the price its at. if you are looking for a simple vegan cookbook then this is the one to go for.

Practical and Straightforward Plant-Based Cookbook
Reviewed in the United States on July 8, 2022
I bought this book after one of my cousins recommended it. She has has been following a Vegan diet and lifestyle for a while now and I noticed that she started to lose weight, look healthier and have more energy at our family gatherings. For the price you pay, I can definitely say that I am happy with my purchase. So many vegan cookbooks are uninspiring or complex ( all the ones that I’ve bought at least.) This cookbook does not disappoint in in the choice of recipes it offers. Each recipe is accompanied with options for substitutions, which can come in handy if you are wanting to be really precise about your diet and goals.

The recipes look and taste delicious, only requiring readily available ingredients from your local grocer, and also include step-by-step directions. A few extra tips and tricks to make the meal better is welcomed, and added at the end of most of the recipes. Most of the recipes serve two but can easily be doubled if you need a bit more for leftovers, or have a bigger family and trying to get them to eat a more vegan/vegetarian diet. Theres a big emphasis has been placed upon quality recipes rather than quantity. Debby has also focused on the actual content of the book – the actual recipes – and did not really put too much effort into the unimportant things like the style and look and colors etc.
I sort of like it when a cookbook is simple, as the reason I buy a cookbook is because of the recipes and not all of the other fillers fo space that are for the most part, a big distraction and waste of time. If you are looking a basic plain meat & potato vegan cookbook (excuse the pun) this i ticks the box

I’ve been trying adopt a more plant based way of eating and have failed a few times in the past. This cookbook is a great companion to the other more information dense books that I have purchased, and the meal plan helps me to meal prep and know exactly what you will be eating in the week. While the environment was not my primary reason for starting on this diet, I can certainly see how if everyone at this way we could change the world. This cookbook leads with plant-based meals but there are many recipes that focus on vegan meats for those that still want the meat taste without actually eating it.

I’m looking forward the rest of this journey and would recommend this book if you are looking to start the vegan/plant based way of eating in an easy, no-fuss way.

Step-by-Step Guide to the Vegan Lifestyle
Reviewed in the United States on July 1, 2022
I have a fairly large collection vegan and vegetarian of cookbooks – probably over 100, with a fair amount of these being purely Vegan ones, as well as a mix of some plant based. I can usually find only a few good recipes in every book, but this strategy is ,of course, an expensive way to gather decent recipes that you enjoy! I was at a stage where I though that visiting various well known vegan blogs to find recipes would do be just as effective and not waste so much money, but after trying it for a few days I quickly realised that it was very time-consuming.

I bought this book after it was recommended to me by a good friend after she heard me complaining about the lack of delicious plant-based recipes on the internet and in the recipe books I have. I didn’t really have high expectations for this on when I bought it, and was just thinking “another one to add to my collection/maybe I’ll get a few recipes from it”.
I can now safely say that I was pleasantly surprised.

While this book is a more no-frills approach to the vegan diet, and focuses less on the imagery and the look of the interior – it delivers where it matters most…the recipes. They are quick and simple. I can’t tell you how annoyed I get when I need 23 different exotic herbs and spices just to get my plant-based lunch on the table.. There are no fancy ingredients – this book is straight to the point. As with all books there are a few recipes that I will probably never make, as they are just not for me, but thats just my preference and you may find you actually like them.

If you’ve considered but opted out of trying a whole plant food diet because it would-be … too complicated, too flavorless, too whatever … I’ve got some bad news for you: this cookbook will eliminate all of your excuses.
I’m excited to try more of the recipes as I haven’t been through all of them yet.

A few of my favorites recipes so far are the Roasted Beet & Quinoa Salad, Tahini-Dressed Smoky Chickpea Wraps and the Russian-Dressed Reuben Burgers.

I would recommend this book for those who want to keep things simple and cook in healthier way using only plant based ingredients.

A MUST-HAVE for newbie to Veganism
Reviewed in the United States on July 4, 2022
I’ve been looking to get onto a more plant based way of eating for a while now. At first I thought it would be really simple…just don’t eat meat right? Well I was wrong, and as it turns out there is a lot more nuance to what you are allowed to eat, and what is considered to be an “animal” product, which can confuse a newbie for sure

Although I do care about the planet, selfishly I took this diet upon myself more for the health benefits that it claimed. That age old adage that says, “you are what you eat”. Never had I thought that food could be your medicine but I can happily say I am a converted after following the Vegan diet and feeling much lighter and energetic.
I have outlined a few highlights that I enjoyed about this cookbook below:

What I really like about this book is straight to the point with tons of recipes, and no fluff.

The recipes are super simple to follow and easy to whip up in no time. I am seriously not a big fan of having complex dishes that take loads of ingredients to pull-off correctly. It’s really not worth the time, money or energy if you ask me. This is probably the main draw I have had to this book, the ease of use and simplicity.
A few recipes that really stood out to me and became my favorites would be the following [in no particular order]:

Hearty Mushroom & Wine Polenta, Spicy Chickpea Tikka Masala and the Madeira-Glazed Shepherd’s Pie. As you can see I am a fan of the more hearty and curry inspired recipes as not only, which this book has many of.

The fact that there’s a large variety of totally unique recipes for different times of the day (lunch, supper, breakfasts snacks etc)is great. If a diet is boring, I am bound to break sooner or later and eat some sugar filled chocolate. Variety is what keeps me on track with a diet, and luckily the author delivers in this department.

Another really neat addition is that most of the recipes have some useful tips and tricks at the bottom of them. There are also ingredient swaps so you can build your own custom meals to suit your taste and , while still keeping it in line with the overall Vegan guidlines.

While not the most fancy Vegan cookbook, It’s worthwhile to grab a copy and have on your shelf for the recipes alone.
